Project Plan Guidelines
The project plan is based on a problem that you plan to solve using project management
concepts. Scope of the problem should be such that the plan and Project 2016 document
can be completed within a semester. The plan should be very thorough and use the
project management concepts appropriately. It can be assumed that the time frame for the
project is from the first day of class to the last day of class. In essence the project plan,
which if followed in entirety, should be able to completely solve the problem.
The final project plan, which will be part of the final report, should be between 10-15
pages in an essay format. The project plan will be divided into the following sections:
1. General Project Description: This section describes the project in general. It also
defines the scope of the project in concrete terms. This section is a little
descriptive as it introduces the project.
2. Problem Statement: The problem of the project is briefly stated in this section.
3. Mission Statement, Goals, and Objectives: The mission of the project is briefly
stated in this section. Thereafter, the goals and objectives that have to be
accomplished in order to complete the project are discussed.

different alternative strategies are presented and the selected strategy is justified
in detail.
5. Project Deliverables: A list of project deliverables with description should be
stated in this section.
6. Planning and Scheduling: This section consists of the techniques and concepts
that have been used to plan and schedule the project. Some of the techniques that
might be used are Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Arrow Diagrams, Critical
Path Method (CPM), and Gantt chart (Project 2016).
7. Communications, Control and Evaluation: This section presents the analysis to
control the project. The control procedures focus on cost, schedule, quality and
risk, In addition, the section includes the communications plan and BCWS.
8. Organization: The organizational structure required for the plan is presented in
this section. State the type of organizational structure and draw the organizational
chart for the project.
